Re: Pardew v Allardyce Manager comparison after 163 in charge
Do people not remember how bad we were under pardew in the championship?

The terrible performance + substitutions he made in the final against Palace?

We scraped into the playoffs the year we went up. Ok, we had a couple of great nights on the playoff semis, but generally it was utter shyte (mindful of the fact it wasn't the strongest team in the world)

Are the apologists really going as far to say the team we had in the Championship in 2003 was BETTER than Allardyces?

Fucking hell.

We had Defoe until Christmas and Carrick for the whole of the first season in the championship under pards (granted I know he didn't take over the side until mid October.

Two players arguably far superior to any in the championship side last time round

The players we sold in 2003 were, arguably, better and had a higher market value, though.

You get ALOT less for your money nowadays. I'm not sure you can make a direct comparison with money spent seen as transfer fees have been hyper inflated in the past 5-10 years.

based on swhat swiss?

all the evidence we have shows he'd lost the dressing room

other than one year the fans spent more time wanting pardew out than supporting him

worse stick than Allardyce hass ever had, remember Rotherham with Pardew out and what a load of rubbish ringing out?

Re: Pardew v Allardyce Manager comparison after 163 in charge
And the first 11? The point is it took time for the new signings and Tevez (who curbs was also reluctant to play and only did due to injuries) to gel and sort things out.

It wasn't so much a management issue on the feild. Pards would have sorted it out.

That's got me thinking along the lines of developing a Top Trumps of West Ham managers.

Categories could involve:

Facial cold sores
Size of jowls

Will be a winner for next Christmas.

Re: Pardew v Allardyce Manager comparison after 163 in charge
Of Pards last 19 matches he 'd won 3

including a run of 7 losses in a row

he deserved to go

Is there a comparison on the amount of facial cold sores between the two managers

Egg should have supported Pards in sorting out the dressing room and gave him the budget Curbishley screwed in Jan. He would have turned it around.

I thought we had a great time if it the years we came up and the cup final under pardew going up to Everton midweek and winning and the cup match up at man city stand out, but pardew lost the plot after that the same as seems to have happened at Newcastle

Scorch

you're right we/sold released a LOT more players when we went down under Grant than we did with Roeder

Re: Pardew v Allardyce Manager comparison after 163 in charge
Not going to compare these 2, both done a great job on reflection.

All I will say, what I think would’ve made a massive, massive difference to us as a club, is if we gave the ‘Curbishley Warchest’ to Pardew to spend, I think we would’ve bought players to the club who would have given us so much more, in terms of playing and sell on value.

Night on every single player Curbs bought was either shit, injury prone, or injury prone and shit. Even the 2 standouts, Bellamy & Parker, had a history of injuries, and only Parker out of those 2 played a decent amount of games.

Add £40 million for Tevez and Mascherano and its neck and neck.
